THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA guitarist and vocalist Jeremy DePoyster has addressed the growing trend of artists relying on pre-recorded tracks during live performances.
While acknowledging that more and more acts are utilizing playback tracks to some degree, DePoyster expressed the band's distaste for over-reliance on technology.
He stated that THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA had no choice but to use pre-recorded tracks during their show at Oklahoma City's Diamond Ballroom due to a lineup change last year and an inability to secure a fill-in bassist in time for their return gig.
However, DePoyster emphasized that the band has never used guitar or vocal tracks in their performances, preferring instead to rely on intense rehearsal to deliver high-energy shows.
The band has been touring extensively since releasing their critically acclaimed album 'Flowers' via Solid State Records last November.
Among a string of seminal releases, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA's discography boasts numerous accolades including having five of its albums chart in the Top 5 on Billboard's Top Hard Rock Albums list, and amassing nearly half a billion streams – an unprecedented feat for most heavy acts.
The group has since released 'Color Decay', selling out their biggest shows worldwide and garnering some of the highest praise of their career.
The album was recorded at a VRBO in Arkansas with producer Jonathan Gering and saw collaborations with several high-profile musicians, including I PREVAIL's Tyler Smyth and BRING ME THE HORIZOn'S Zakk Cervini.
After wrapping up their time 'in this heavenly corner of Arkansas,' Jon, Jeremy, and Mike Hranica embarked on several trips to Los Angeles where they put the finishing touches on the album with engineer Sam Guaiana.
The band has since been touring extensively in support of their latest release.
