Dutch rockers THE GATHERING will play the final concert of their highly anticipated 'Mandylion' tour on Saturday, January 16, 2027 at AFAS Live in Amsterdam.
The evening will mark the end of a 29-date run around the world celebrating the band's classic album's 30th anniversary.
In a statement to iRock.cl, THE GATHERING guitarist René Rutten reflected on the reunion tour, saying: "At the beginning, we just started with only the musicians, because it's a bit more difficult to figure out how the music works.
And then Anneke came by, and then she was so impressed with hearing the old classic songs, but now with two guitars and really full force, amps on 11.
The tour has seen THE GATHERING play five reunion shows at Doornroosje in Nijmegen, The Netherlands last August, as well as previously staged a kick-off "try-out" concert on June 29, 2025 at Dynamo in Eindhoven.
Tickets for the final show go on sale Friday, June 19 at 10:00 AM.
The original lineup of THE GATHERING will take to the stage once more with vocals by Anneke Van Giersbergen, bass by Hugo Prinsen Geerligs, keyboards and backing vocals by Frank Boeijen, drums by Hans Rutten, guitar by René Rutten, and guitar by Jelmer Wiersma.
The band's third studio album, "Mandylion", was released in August 1995 via Century Media Records.
Regarding THE GATHERING's future plans beyond the tour, René stated: "No, we don't have any plans for the future.
No.
The last show will be in Chile, from this kind of 'Mandylion' 30th-anniversary shows.
And after that I stay, of course, a little bit longer here in Chile, because I have my family here.
And after that we will see — we will see what the future will bring.
Anneke, of course, has her solo career and shows, and that's happening in '27.
