American doom metal veterans THE OBSESSED have entered the studio to begin recording their new full-length album, "Live Fast - Love Hard - Die Free", tentatively due in 2027.

The band has been on a tear since releasing its acclaimed latest album, "Gilded Sorrow", on independent Californian label Ripple Music in 2024.

Praised for being a "must-listen for fans of the genre and a compelling entry point for newer voyagers into the world of doom" by Metal Hammer and "the best the band has ever sounded" by Ghost Cult magazine, "Gilded Sorrow" was described as a defiantly abrasive, crushing and straightforward album that has already left an indelible mark on the heavy music landscape.

With founding member Scott "Wino" Weinrich at the helm, THE OBSESSED is known for its gritty, street-wise American metal with a cynical bent and psychedelic flair.

The band's history spans multiple lineup changes, but their most recent incarnation has been stable since 2020, featuring drummer Brian Costantino (who joined in July), bassist Chris Angleberger, guitarist Jason Taylor, and Weinrich on vocals.

THE OBSESSED plans to release more details about the new album soon.
