Virginia-based heavy metal/punk outfit Thunderchief will release its new full-length album, With Hatchet, Pike Or Morning Star… , via ASR Records on CD and digital platforms on July 1, 2026.
The band will follow the release with a four-week U.S.
tour beginning July 6 in support of the album, with additional regional touring planned for October.
Continuing their signature fusion of aggressive metal, raw punk energy, and hard rock influence, With Hatchet, Pike Or Morning Star… stands as Thunderchief’s most focused and direct release to date.
Across its runtime, the album delivers a relentless collection of heavy riffs, frantic rhythms, and unsettling lyrical themes, touching on modern social tension, politics, humanity, and the ongoing frustration surrounding concert ticket pricing and music streaming economics.
The band comments: “We are really excited about this album.
It hits on everything we like about making music.
We pushed ourselves in a few new directions this time, adding elements that weren’t present on earlier records.
We’re really stoked on how fans have responded to hearing these songs live.” Formed in Richmond, Virginia, Thunderchief has built its identity on a raw and abrasive blend of metal and hardcore punk, balancing weight and urgency in equal measure.
This new release expands on that foundation with a sharper focus on momentum, intensity, and groove, while avoiding overproduction or modern studio excess.
The album also features a reinterpretation of the 1973 cult classic “Entrance Of The Devil” by Zior.
