Legendary guitarist and activist Tom Morello has announced his first solo rock album, 'Everyone Gets Everything They Want,' set for release on September 25 via Mom + Pop Music.
The record confronts issues of fascism, immigrant rights, and global political turmoil, showcasing Morello's signature fretwork and unwavering lyrical commitment to social justice.
The album is anchored by his revolutionary guitar techniques, blending thunderous riffs, otherworldly solos, and a consistent anti-fascist vision.
The new project features a diverse array of collaborators, including Serj Tankian, KNEECAP, and BEARTOOTH.
Morello’s fifteen-year-old son Roman, who has performed with his father on tour for the past three years, shares writing credits on five tracks and contributed monster riffs and fiery solos.
The album’s lead single, 'Date Night,' tells the true story of three Dutch girls—Sisters Truus and Freddie Oversteegen and friend Hannie Schaft—who served as spies, saboteurs, and assassins against the Nazis during World War II.
Hannie was eventually captured, tortured, and killed by the Nazis, but she never betrayed her comrades.
Morello says: "I make anti-racist songs for anti-racists.
I make anti-fascist songs for anti-fascists.
And I make anti-Nazi songs for anti-Nazis.
'Date Night' is really a 'which side are you on?' song.
If any of that offends you, do the math.
Oh, and Roman Morello wrote the killer riff in this tune." The album also includes the track 'Adjourn It,' which features Serj Tankian and Roman Morello.
The song condemns rising racism and anti-immigrant bigotry, with its video weaving clips from the 1954 film 'Salt Of The Earth' to reflect themes of resistance and injustice.
In addition to the album, Morello has announced the Power To The People festival, taking place Saturday, October 3 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland.
Curated by Morello, the sold-out one-day event celebrates peace, justice, solidarity, music, and community action.
The lineup features special performances from Dave Matthews, FOO FIGHTERS, Bruce Springsteen, Joan Baez, PUBLIC ENEMY, Killer Mike, Brittany Howard, DROPKICK MURPHYS, Jack Black (featuring Roman Morello, Revel Ian, Yoyoka Soma and Hugo Weiss), Serj Tankian, GRANDSON, THE NEIGHBORHOOD KIDS, Taylor Momsen, Matt Cameron, THE LINDA LINDAS, Darryl "DMC" McDaniels, and a DJ set by Shepard Fairey.
Morello will also perform at Louder Than Life in Louisville, Kentucky on September 19, following recent runs with Bruce Springsteen and the E STREET BAND on the 'Land Of Hope And Dreams American Tour' and a performance at the Newport Folk Festival."
