TRIVIUM frontman Matt Heafy spoke to Rock Sound about the band's upcoming album, which is tentatively due in late 2026.
The LP will be TRIVIUM's first to feature new drummer Alex Rüdinger, who replaced Alex Bent last October.
Heafy described the album as a new chapter for the band, saying, "We have Rudi now on drums, who we tried to get 10 years ago, and we couldn't get him 10 years ago.
And for those 10 years, he told us that he wondered and regretted every day not being in the band." The album is still being mixed, according to Heafy.
TRIVIUM's final recording with Bent was the three-song EP "Struck Dead," which came out last October via Roadrunner Records.
Heafy talked about the EP's origins, saying it started as a way for the band to release new music while they toured celebrating the 20th anniversary of their album 'Ascendancy.' The EP was produced by TRIVIUM and recorded with Mark Lewis at the band's Hangar Studios in Orlando, Florida.
It was mixed and mastered by Josh Wilbur.
Bassist Paolo Gregoletto elaborated on the songwriting and recording process for "Struck Dead," saying it was a fun little project to try something different and new while they chipped away at writing a new album.
TRIVIUM guitarist Corey Beaulieu added that the band's original intention was to make some new music available to coincide with their tour celebrating 'Ascendancy.'
