TYPE O NEGATIVE's 2003 single "I Don't Wanna Be Me" has been certified gold by the RIAA, marking a major achievement for the band.

The song is characterized as a "highly-energized, sarcastic paean to self-hatred" and features an influence of old-school punk rock.

TYPE O NEGATIVE guitarist Kenny Hickey revealed that lead vocalist Peter Steele's lyrics were autobiographical, reflecting his struggles with addiction and health issues.

The band's music video for the song features actor Dan Fogler dressing up as various celebrities, including Marilyn Monroe and Eminem.

Following Peter Steele's passing in 2010, TYPE O NEGATIVE effectively disbanded.

However, their legacy continues to inspire new generations of metal fans.

A full-length concert recording from TYPE O NEGATIVE is currently being prepared for release later this year.
