VIRGIN STEELE has confirmed that new music is currently being developed for a follow-up to its 2023 album "The Passion Of Dionysus". According to vocalist David DeFeis, a significant amount of material is already recorded, with additional ideas still in his mind. He stated that the band is gradually finalizing this new content into what will be the next official release.
The band's current touring lineup remains unchanged and will perform at the Luppolo In Rock festival in Italy in July. The lineup includes David DeFeis on vocals, Tommaso Vitali on guitar, Josh Block on bass and guitar, and Matt McKasty on drums. Josh Block has been with the band since the 2000 tour for "The House Of Atreus" and is featured in the latest band video.
Longtime guitarist Edward Pursino, who has not performed with the band recently, remains healthy and active. DeFeis confirmed that Pursino has moved into a different life phase and no longer wishes to perform on stage. However, the band has left the door open for a potential return should Pursino decide to rejoin.
Formed in 1981 by Jack Starr and Joey Ayvazian, VIRGIN STEELE released its debut album in 1982 and followed it with "Guardians Of The Flame" in 1983. Starr left the band due to creative differences and was replaced by Pursino, a longtime collaborator of DeFeis from their high school BLACK SABBATH cover band, MOUNTAIN ASH. After a legal dispute over the name, Starr transferred ownership to DeFeis.
