VOIVOD frontman Denis “Snake” Bélanger has announced he will sit out the band’s upcoming European tour to attend to a family matter.
In his place, former VOIVOD vocalist/bassist Eric Forrest will temporarily take over lead duties.
Forrest, who fronts the band E-FORCE and is currently putting the finishing touches on their new album “Voivod Revisited,” has confirmed he’ll clear his schedule to perform with Rocky, Chewy, and Away.
The tour will hit various European venues from July 10th to August 16th.
A set list has been worked out for the shows, which include Frantic Fest in Milan, Italy, Disaster Metal Festival in Cagliari, Italy, Masters of Rock in Vizovice, Czech Republic, and more.
This summer’s announcement comes after VOIVOD announced their European tour dates earlier this year.
At the time, it was also revealed that Snake’ partner Christine McDonald was battling stage four colorectal cancer, prompting a GoFundMe campaign to aid with medical expenses.
In an interview with Chile’s iRock, Forrest reflected on his time spent fronting VOIVOD and spoke about how his approach to songwriting has evolved since then.
He also touched upon the topic of re-recording songs from VOIVOD nearly 25 years after his departure from the band.
VOIVOD’s most recent album announcement includes their forthcoming release, “Voivod Revisited,” which is tentatively set to drop later this year via Mighty Music.
E-FORCE’ fifth studio album, “Mindbender,” was released in November 2021.
