Swedish death metal institution Vomitory have announced that they are parting ways with founding member and guitarist Urban Gustafsson.
The news comes after the release of their latest album In Death Throes, which was issued on April 10 via Metal Blade Records.
Vomitory's history dates back to 1989 when the band formed.
However, it wasn't until 1996 that they unleashed their first studio album.
They went on to release seven more albums before parting ways in 2013.
The band briefly reunited for a one-off performance in 2019 to celebrate their 30th anniversary.
The new album In Death Throes was well-received by fans and critics alike, with drummer Tobias Gustafsson stating that it picks up where their previous comeback album All Heads Are Gonna Roll left off, but turns the intensity up a notch.
He also praised new guitarist Christian Fredriksson for finding his place within the band's sound.
The recording on In Death Throes took place across multiple studios in late 2025 with producer Rikard Löfgren handling engineering.
The album artwork was handled by Giannis Nakos of Remedy Art Design, while Seiya Ogino of Ogino Design delivered the layout.
In a statement, Vomitory said: “A new era of Vomitory awaits.
Stay tuned for updates.” This is not their first departure as they have previously announced their retirement only to return in 2019.
The band's music can be streamed on various platforms and fans can also purchase their latest album In Death Throes from Metal Blade Records.
