South African deathcore outfit Vulvodynia have officially parted ways with their recently appointed vocalist Zion Bittenbender.
The decision comes after allegations of sexual assault and misconduct resurfaced against him online.
Although Bittenbender denied the claims, he stepped down in November to address them and the band withdrew from Defeated Sanity's spring North American tour.
In a statement issued March 3, Vulvodynia confirmed their separation with Bittenbender, citing their prioritization of maintaining an environment that respects their fans, peers, and community.
The band also acknowledged shortcomings in how they initially handled the situation, apologizing for any delay or lack of clarity.
With vocalist Zion out of the picture, guitarist Lwandile Prusent will temporarily handle vocal duties for the band's remaining shows this year, as they begin the process of finding a new permanent vocalist.
Details on auditions are expected to be shared soon.
