Northern Irish pagan metal band Waylander has announced the release of their new album, Mac TĂre – Son Of The Land, on November 6th via Rockshots Records. The nine-track record draws on Ireland’s mythology, landscapes, and cultural heritage, continuing the band’s long-standing fusion of extreme metal with traditional Irish instrumentation and pagan themes.
The album’s first single, "Macha," honors the ancient goddess associated with the band’s hometown and county of origin. The title Mac TĂre, meaning "son of the land," references the Irish word for wolf, symbolizing Ireland’s deep connection to nature and ancestral stories. While not a concept album like its predecessor Ériú’s Wheel, the record maintains a strong thematic link to the land and its historical narratives.
The band’s new single "MallachtaĂ" explores the power of satire in ancient Irish bardic traditions, highlighting how words once shaped reputations and influenced society. The song underscores the authority once held by bards and druids, a theme echoed throughout the album.
Waylander’s lineup includes Ard Chieftain O’Hagan on vocals, Tor Dennison on electric guitars, Connor Murray on bass and backing vocals, Lee McCartney on drums and percussion, Dave Briggs on whistles, Irish bouzouki, bodhran, uilleann pipes, and backing vocals, and Saul McMichael on electric and acoustic guitars and backing vocals.
Additionally, the final solo album of original material by legendary Iron Maiden frontman Paul Di’Anno, titled Warhorse, is now available worldwide on colored vinyl via BraveWords Records. The release follows a previous announcement by the label and is described as a heavy metal record with intense energy and attention-demanding sound.
