In a new interview with Heavy Consequence, LIMP BIZKIT guitarist Wes Borland spoke about the passing of his bandmate Sam Rivers.
Born in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1977, Rivers was one-third of the original LIMP BIZKIT lineup alongside vocalist Fred Durst and drummer John Otto.
Borland reflected on Rivers' impact, saying he was 'like family.' Borland remembered Rivers as 'a piece of our DNA,' and acknowledged that he cannot be replaced.
Borland praised Richie Buxton, who is currently filling in for Rivers, calling him a 'great player' and 'wonderful guy.' He also complimented Ecca Vandal's music career, saying it was 'kind of blowing up.' The guitarist opened up about the emotional process of discussing Rivers' passing, describing it as 'very hard to talk about...
very emotional talking about it.' Borland acknowledged that LIMP BIZKIT is still grieving over his loss.
Rivers left the band in 2015 for health reasons related to excessive drinking before rejoining in 2018.
LIMP BIZKIT is currently touring Europe and will return to the U.S.
for a series of festival appearances this summer and fall, including Summer Of '99 And Beyond, Inkcarceration, Louder Than Life and Aftershock.
