In a new interview with Rock Sound's James Wilson-Taylor conducted at last weekend's Download festival at Donington Park in Castle Donington, England, former VAN HALEN bassist and current MAMMOTH frontman Wolfgang Van Halen was asked to name a band that he hasn't toured with before that he would like to share the stage with one day.
He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Oh, PERIPHERY.
I love PERIPHERY.
Their new album is my favorite album of the year so far.
I know we're a bit different, but I think we both share a sense of melody.
So, I would love to play with them.
Yeah, it'd be fun.", Wolfgang, who launched his solo career in 2020 with his debut album 'MAMMOTH WVH', has now released his third album via BMG.
The 10-track effort clocks in at 39 minutes and showcases the evolution of Wolfgang and his songwriting since he launched his solo career.
MESHUGGAH is one of his favorite bands, he said in an interview with Amoeba Music's "What's In My Bag?" segment.
They're unbelievably heavy — there's nothing heavier than them — but you get lulled into their rhythm.
As a drummer first, I just am in love with rhythmic music, and there's nothing more rhythmic than MESHUGGAH.", He also stated that he listens to MESHUGGAH when he is not writing, recording and performing.
"I love MESHUGGAH," he said.
"I tend to listen to, at least recently, more heavier music.
