ZZ TOP has canceled its Hollywood Bowl concert last week due to health concerns involving longtime drummer Frank Beard.

The band confirmed that guitarist Billy Gibbons and bassist Elwood Francis will continue performing with Michael Monahan filling in for Beard during upcoming shows.

The cancellation follows a prior temporary withdrawal in late 2022 when Beard stepped away from touring amid an unspecified health issue.

John Douglas, a longtime percussionist and former drummer for the band, previously filled in for Beard in 2002 during an emergency appendectomy.

Beard has been a member of ZZ TOP since 1970, playing on all of the band's albums starting with 'ZZ Top's First Album' in 1971.

He was initially credited as 'Rube Beard' on the band's first two releases before being listed as 'Frank Beard' on subsequent albums.

Beard, who is known for wearing a mustache rather than a beard, resides in Richmond, Texas, where he owns and operates the Top 40 Ranch.

The band previously lost founding member Dusty Hill in July 2021.

No further tour dates have been announced following the cancellation of the Hollywood Bowl show."
