Legendary METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett took part in a unique live discussion on June 12 at Magyar Zene Háza in Budapest, Hungary.

The event celebrated the release of his new coffee table book, "The Collection: Kirk Hammett," which chronicles his storied music career and showcases his eclectic guitar collection.

Joining Hammett on stage was METALLICA bassist Robert Trujillo, who surprised fans with an impromptu jam session.

During his remarks, Hammett reflected on his time in EXODUS and how he became a member of METALLICA after replacing Dave Mustaine in 1983.

He also revealed that he had come up with the name for his former band.

The conversation touched on Hammett's extensive guitar collection, which features rare instruments from his career with METALLICA.

The book release event is part of METALLICA's ongoing "M72" European tour schedule.

As part of their shows, Hammett and Trujillo have been paying tribute to some of their musical heroes by covering songs from their catalogs.

These "doodles," as the band refers to them in their setlists, offer a unique take on classic tracks and are an integral part of METALLICA's live experience.

"The Collection: Kirk Hammett" is a comprehensive coffee table book that explores Hammett's life in music and his extraordinary guitar collection.

With photographs by legendary rock photographer Ross Halfin and featuring rare imagery from his archives, the book offers a behind-the-scenes look at Hammett's career with METALLICA and EXODUS.

Available worldwide via Gibson Publishing, "The Collection: Kirk Hammett" is available in premium formats, including limited signed and numbered Custom and Deluxe Editions.

The book has been released globally via Gibson.com and the Gibson Garage locations.
