British punk icons THE DAMNED have announced a celebratory U.K.
tour in support of their upcoming global run.
Dubbed "Final Damnation 50," the tour commemorates the band's 50th anniversary since igniting the fuse of the British punk explosion and marking half a century since they released their first single, album and toured America.
The tour will kick off on November 25 at Brighton's Dome before making stops in London, Bristol, Manchester, Newcastle, Derby and Birmingham.
Special guests THE SAINTS '73-'78 will join THE DAMNED on the trek, bringing Australian punk pioneers and their groundbreaking material to the live shows.
Following a triumphant 50th-anniversary show at the OVO Arena Wembley in April and a forthcoming global run that includes the Sydney Opera House and a massive North American return, THE DAMNED will step back on British soil with Rat Scabies behind the drums.,According to Rat Scabies, "Half a century on and who'd have thought we would still be upright and breathing? We never thought we'd make it this far, and neither did you! But here we are, a finely tuned engine." Captain Sensible adds, "With 50 years of catalog to choose from, only the best songs from our checkered history will be performed.
You know we won't disappoint," he assures fans.,THE DAMNED have been reveling in their own and punk's 50th anniversary since earlier this year releasing an acclaimed covers album, "Not Like Everybody Else," featuring tracks that helped shape the band.
The lineup features Dave Vanian on vocals, Captain Sensible on guitar, Rat Scabies behind the drums and Paul Gray on bass.
They have been performing live shows with their signature dark lyrics and rich baritone vocals.,The tour will mark half a century since THE DAMNED were the first U.K.
punk band to release a single ("New Rose"), the first to release an album ("Damned Damned Damned"), and the first to tour America.
They have remained one of the most enduring and influential bands in punk, goth and alternative rock.,THE DAMNED will bring Australian punk pioneers THE SAINTS '73-'78 as special guests on the trek.
Led by founding members Ed Kuepper and drummer Ivor Hay, the lineup features an all-star cast including Mick Harvey (THE BIRTHDAY PARTY, THE BAD SEEDS) and Jim White (DIRTY THREE), alongside Mark Arm (MUDHONEY) on vocals.,Nov.
