Dave Mustaine has released his new memoir, In My Darkest Hour, co-written with Joe Layden and published by Da Capo, an imprint of Grand Central Publishing and Hachette Book Group. The book details Mustaine's journey through cancer treatment and his reflections on mortality, faith, and resilience. It chronicles how his diagnosis led directly into the recording of Megadeth’s sixteenth studio album, The Sick, The Dying…and the Dead!.

Mustaine launched the book with a three-city tour beginning on September 8 in New York City at The Strand Bookstore’s Kaufman Music Center. The tour continues with events in Boston, Massachusetts on September 9 at Parkside Bookshop and Manassas, Virginia on September 10 at Barnes & Noble. The tour aligns with Megadeth’s participation in Iron Maiden’s Run For Your Lives World Tour 2026, offering fans additional opportunities to meet Mustaine in key markets.

In My Darkest Hour provides an intimate look at Mustaine’s personal and artistic evolution, highlighting his commitment to perseverance and vulnerability.
