Guitarist Vivian Campbell of DEF LEPPARD has confirmed that Hodgkin's lymphoma has returned following a donor stem cell transplant in January 2025. The diagnosis, first disclosed in June 2013, initially led to multiple rounds of chemotherapy and a self-stem cell transplant, which did not succeed. Campbell reported in early 2025 that the cancer had returned and that he now faces a renewed treatment plan, with a potential second donor transplant scheduled within a few years.

He emphasized that despite the recurrence, he remains active in both DEF LEPPARD and his side project LAST IN LINE, as well as in rally driving, a passion he developed as a child. The announcement follows a previous report in June 2025 that he was in remission after a PET scan in April 2025, a claim later contradicted by updated medical developments. Campbell confirmed the return of cancer during a 2025 interview on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" and stated that his current focus remains on managing the illness and continuing his professional activities.

The guitarist, known for his work with DIO and WHITESNAKE before joining DEF LEPPARD in 1992, remains committed to living a full life despite his health challenges. DEF LEPPARD's latest album, "Diamond Star Halos," was released in May 2022 via UMe. The band was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in March 2019.

Campbell previously underwent spine surgery in 2016. No official tour or album release has been announced as a result of these developments.
