Canadian metal legend Devin Townsend has finally released his ambitious orchestral-metal opus The Moth on May 29 via InsideOutMusic.

The album marks the culmination of a decade-long labor of love for Townsend, who describes it as his "life's work." With The Moth, Townsend presents a sweeping three-part epic featuring a full orchestra and choir in what might be considered a more pure version of the experience.

The main album is accompanied by two additional releases: The Moth – The Afterlife, which highlights the grandeur of the orchestra & choir; and The Moth – The War, a recording of the live musical debut that took place in March 2025 in The Netherlands, showcasing the raw emotion of performing The Moth for the first time.

The Moth will be available on several formats including Ltd Deluxe 3CD+Blu-ray Artbook, Limited 2CD Edition, Standard CD Jewelcase, Gatefold Triple-Gatefold 180g 2LP & Fold-Out LP-booklet, and digitally.

Devin Townsend explains that The Moth's central gravitational theme is true self-acceptance.

The album features a host of incredible musicians and contributors, including the North Netherlands Orchestra & Choir and orchestrators Joseph Stevenson & Niels Bye Nielsen.
