Norwegian symphonic black metal band DIMMU BORGIR has begun its 10-date North American tour in support of its new album 'Grand Serpent Rising'.

The tour launched on August 7 at The Palladium Times Square in New York City and will conclude on August 23 at The Novo in Los Angeles, California.

The album, released on May 22 via Nuclear Blast Records, was recorded in Gothenburg with producer Fredrik Nordström, known for his work on 'Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia' and 'Death Cult Armageddon'.

The tour features support from Swedish death metal band SUFFOCATION and Norwegian black metal act HULDER.

However, HYPOCRISY was forced to withdraw from the tour on August 3 due to visa issues.

The band confirmed that longtime guitarist Galder has officially departed, with his final concert taking place on August 17, 2024, at Dynamo Metal Fest in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

Galder announced his departure to focus on his project OLD MAN'S CHILD.

Kjell Åge 'Damage' Karlsen has been named as the new guitarist, making his live debut with DIMMU BORGIR on June 27, 2025, at the Tons Of Rock festival in Oslo, Norway.

He previously played with Shagrath in the rock act CHROME DIVISION.

In October 2026, DIMMU BORGIR will co-headline the 'In League With Satan' tour with BEHEMOTH across Europe, with DARK FUNERAL as special guests.

The new album 'Grand Serpent Rising' is described as a comprehensive reflection of the band's legacy, blending orchestral elements with aggressive black metal intensity.

The title symbolizes renewal and liberation, aligning with the end of the Year of the Snake in February 2026, when the album was completed."
