FLOTSAM AND JETSAM has announced their upcoming album, 'Rats In The Temple', set for release on August 28, 2026 via Napalm Records. The album marks 40 years since the band's groundbreaking debut, 'Doomsday For The Deceiver', one of the few albums to earn a 6K rating from Kerrang! magazine.

The new release follows the band's 1988 album 'No Place For Disgrace', which was released after bassist Jason Newsted departed to join METALLICA. " Knutson, guitarists Michael Gilbert and Steve Conley, drummer Ken Mary and bassist Bill Bodily, has emphasized a return to the band's roots while incorporating updated production and songwriting dynamics. Ken Mary, a longtime collaborator with the band, has played a key role in shaping the band's sound, with Eric Knutson noting that he often improves song choruses with precision and intensity.

The band has also highlighted a renewed sense of musical partnership, with all members contributing equally to songwriting and creative decisions. Gilbert is the only other current member to have played on the original 'Doomsday For The Deceiver' release. The new album represents a deliberate shift toward the band's early identity, with a focus on authenticity and heavy, thrash-inspired elements that reflect their foundational sound.
