GHOST has officially announced a hiatus following the conclusion of its 'Skeletour' world tour. The decision comes after Tobias Forge expressed exhaustion from the tour's extensive run, which spanned 70 shows across Europe and North America, including Mexico. The European leg began on April 15, 2025, in Manchester, UK, and concluded on May 24, 2025, in Oslo, Norway. The North American leg launched on July 9, 2025, in Baltimore, Maryland, and ended on August 16, 2025, in Houston, Texas. The 2026 North American leg of the tour ran from January 21 to February 23, 2026, at venues including the Kia Center in Orlando and the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.

The band's latest album, 'Skeletá', released in 2025, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 86,000 equivalent album units, marking the first hard rock album to reach the top spot since AC/DC's 'Power Up' in 2020. The first single from the album, 'Satanized', introduced Papa V Perpetua as the new frontman for GHOST's 2025 and 2026 touring cycles.

GHOST has released its second feature film, '2 Big To Rig', captured live on 16mm film during two sold-out shows at Mexico City's Palacio De Los Deportes in September 2025. The film showcases the full live experience, including behind-the-scenes footage of the crew and the first pro-shot footage of Papa V Perpetua and the Nameless Ghouls. It was made to share the 'Skeletour' experience with fans in regions where live staging was not feasible and for fans who attended the originally scheduled Mexico City dates.

Forge confirmed that the band is currently in a hiatus with no upcoming album or tour plans. He emphasized that the decision was driven by a lack of creative direction and a desire to step away from the cyclical demands of record-making and touring. The band will continue working on non-GHOST-related projects during this period.
