Finnish melodic death metal visionaries INSOMNIUM have unleashed their new single, 'Shadowlife', a crushing track that marks the first glimpse of their forthcoming album due out in October.
The song sees INSOMNIUM refusing to dwell in familiar territory or rely on well-worn formulas, instead expanding its sound into new emotional and sonic dimensions while remaining true to its essence.
On 'Shadowlife', darkness meets delicate vulnerability, with the visionary artistry of Travis Smith bringing the concept to life through his cover artwork.
INSOMNIUM vocalist/bassist Niilo Sevänen reveals that 'Shadowlife' can be seen as a thematic gateway to the entire record – an elegy not only for a lost beloved but also for the fading belief that anything beautiful can remain untouched by time.
The song's opening verse sets the tone, with guitarist and clean vocalist Markus Vanhala stating: "'Shadowlife' opens the dreamy next chapter of INSOMNIUM with a certain self-aware catchiness." Meanwhile, the band's guitarist and clean vocalist Ville Friman comments on the album being a defining milestone for them.
