For the first time since 2004, founding vocalist and guitarist Jari Mäenpää will reunite with Ensiferum for special live performances in Finland. The event marks his first appearance with the band outside of Finland and celebrates the early era of Ensiferum, focusing on material from the band’s formative years.
The setlist will include tracks from the 1997 Demo Tape, Ensiferum (2001), Iron (2004), Dragonheads (2006), and Victory Songs (2007). These songs represent the foundational period that defined the band’s legacy and helped shape the modern folk metal landscape.
Jari Mäenpää, a founding member of Ensiferum, performed vocals and guitar on the band’s first two studio albums before departing in 2004 to form Wintersun. The reunion is described as a return to the roots of the band, honoring the energy and vision that launched Ensiferum.
Ensiferum, founded in Helsinki in 1995 by guitarist Markus Toivonen, has released nine studio albums and remains one of the most enduring acts in folk metal. The current lineup includes Markus Toivonen (guitars, vocals), Petri Lindroos (vocals, guitars), Sami Hinkka (bass, vocals), Janne Parviainen (drums), and Pekka Montin (keyboards, vocals).
