Jorn Lande has officially confirmed his role as co-writer and vocalist on Tony Iommi's upcoming solo album, 'From The Dark.' The Norwegian singer shared the news on social media Wednesday, July 29, stating: "Finally the cat is out of the bag!!" He added: "After nearly 2 years in the making, I'm extremely happy to see my friend Tony's solo album 'From The Dark' hitting the stores!" Lande credited Iommi, drummer Karl Brazil, and bassist Becky Baldwin — known for her work with MERCYFUL FATE — for their contributions, praising them as "better players can't be found!" He also acknowledged producer Mike Exeter and team members Ben and Ralph Baker for their support.
The album features eight tracks, with all songs composed by the 'Striking Viking' (Jorn Lande) and 'the most powerful and legendary Brummie in existence' (Tony Iommi).
The first single, 'World Alone,' is now available with its official video.
'From The Dark' will be released in multiple deluxe formats, including a double vinyl edition manufactured in four colors at 45rpm, and a CD with a premium black card featuring a die-cut version of Tony Iommi's signature cross.
A special 32-page CD media book edition includes two bonus tracks: 'Scent Of Dark' and 'Deified (extended version).' Lande previously performed with Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Vinny Appice at a 2010 tribute to Ronnie James Dio at the High Voltage Festival in London, England.
In a 2016 interview, Lande reflected on his connection to HEAVEN & HELL, explaining that he was asked to join Ronnie at several shows before his passing, and that the surviving members of the band treated him with respect despite the sensitivity of the situation.
He noted that he kept the experience private for years to avoid upsetting fans of Ronnie James Dio and BLACK SABBATH.
The full track listing includes: Over The Violent Sun, Black Times, World Alone, Beyond The Dead, Stormwatcher, Death Wake, Return Of The Arbalist, Legacy, Scent Of Dark (exclusive bonus track), and Deified (extended version) (exclusive bonus track)."
