Lustmord and Dave Lombardo have unveiled their debut collaborative album, The Pulse Of Atoms, set for release on October 2 via Ipecac Recordings.
The album marks a fusion of Lustmord’s ambient electronic roots and Lombardo’s heavy metal percussion expertise, resulting in a sound that transcends genre boundaries.
The release begins with the single 'Paleomagnetic Resonance,' available now with a visualizer.
The tracklist includes 'An Eternal Presence Part I: Unknown,' 'An Eternal Presence Part II: Relentless,' 'Beyond The Vast Cold Waste,' 'The Desolate Shore Part I: Submergence,' 'The Desolate Shore Part II: Emergence,' and 'The Abyssal Deep.' Lustmord, a pioneer of dark ambient and industrial music since the early '80s, has produced dozens of solo and collaborative works.
Lombardo, a Grammy-winning drummer and founding member of Slayer, is known for his versatility across thrash and extreme metal, with a 2023 solo debut praised by NPR.
The duo first connected backstage at a FantĂ´mas show, introduced by mutual friend Buzz Osborne, around the time Lustmord and Melvins released a collaborative album.
Nearly two decades later, they formed the project Lustmord Lombardo, crafting an album that blends cold, atmospheric textures with dynamic, energetic percussion.
Lustmord constructed evolving sonic walls and vortices, with Lombardo adding layered percussion and synthesizer elements.
The final mix and mastering were completed by Lustmord.
Pre-orders for The Pulse Of Atoms are now available, including limited-edition Clear and Smoke vinyl variants, CD, and digital formats.
The cover art was created by Stefan Alt.
