MAGNUM has confirmed plans to release a new album featuring previously unreleased songs written by departed guitarist Tony Clarkin. The project, initiated by Clarkin's daughter Dionne, aims to provide fans with insight into his creative process and the evolution of his music. The songs include unfinished demos and alternate versions that were never officially released, offering a collector's glimpse into Clarkin's work.

Bob Catley, the band's vocalist, described the project as a collaborative effort with Dionne leading the initiative, while he serves as an advisor and sidekick. The album will not be a new studio recording but rather a curated selection of archival material, with the full project still in development and no release date set. Catley emphasized that the music remains central to the band's identity, stating that Tony's presence is felt on stage every night.

The announcement follows MAGNUM's cancellation of its 2024 spring tour after Clarkin's death in January 2024, which was preceded by a diagnosis of a rare and incurable spinal condition. The band has since continued with performances, supported by Brendon Riley, who joined as lead guitarist for 2025 and 2026 dates. Riley, Clarkin's former guitar tech, noted that his familiarity with the band's songs and setlist made his transition smooth and meaningful.

The project is being handled as a tribute to Clarkin, with the band committed to honoring his legacy through music. MAGNUM, formed in Birmingham over 50 years ago, remains one of the UK's most respected hard rock acts, with 23 studio albums to its name, including the 2024 release 'Here Comes The Rain'.
