Dave Mustaine, the legendary leader of heavy metal band MEGADETH, has been proclaimed Guest Of Honor by the Legislature of Ciudad Autonoma de Buenos Aires.

This prestigious distinction recognizes his impact on culture and humanity through music.

The honor comes ahead of MEGADETH's April 30 concert at TecnĂłpolis venue in Buenos Aires.

In a statement, the band expressed gratitude for this recognition, citing it as an honor that reflects both Mustaine's legacy and the strong connection between MEGADETH's music and the Argentine audience.

This latest recognition follows the success of MEGADETH's final studio album, "Megadeth", which debuted at number one on the U.S.

album chart after earning 73,000 equivalent album units in its first week.

The bulk of these sales were pure album sales, totaling 69,000.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for the band.

The album follows MEGADETH's last release, "The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!", which reached number three on the Billboard 200 chart and sold 48,000 equivalent album units in its first week of release.

MEGADETH has had a string of top ten-charting albums, including their previous top ten entries on the Billboard 200.

MEGADETH's most recent studio album was produced by Chris Rakestraw, who previously worked on MEGADETH's last two LPs.

Last August, MEGADETH announced its plans to retire with a farewell album and tour, citing a desire to go out on their own terms after years of dedication to the music scene.

The band's farewell run of shows could potentially last for another three to five years as they continue to perform and entertain fans worldwide.

Founded in 1983 by Mustaine following his departure from METALLICA, MEGADETH has released several albums since their debut album "Killing Is My Business… And Business Is Good!" in 1985.
