Metallica has unveiled the live debut of a new song titled 'Shadows Follow,' recorded during the M72 World Tour’s North American kickoff at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ on August 4, 2023.

The performance was compiled from 23 cameras stored in The Metallica Black Box, with editing conducted by Brett Murray.

The track is part of the band’s Lost & Found series and will be available to fans through official channels.

The band’s next show is scheduled for October 1 at the Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In addition, Metallica: Album By Album, a hardcover book authored by music historian Martin Popoff, will be released on September 15, 2026.

The 240-page volume details the band’s 11 studio albums, from Kill ’Em All to 72 Seasons, and features contributions from industry figures including Kim Thayil, Frank Bello, Will Putney, Todd La Torre, Paul Mazurkiewicz, and Anthony Fantano.

The book includes over 200 photographs and examines Metallica’s songwriting breakthroughs, stylistic evolution, and behind-the-scenes milestones.
