MÖTLEY CRÜE has officially confirmed that all band members perform 100% live during concerts, addressing longstanding claims that backing tracks are used in their live shows.

According to bassist Nikki Sixx, who responded to fan inquiries on X, every member plays their instruments in real time, with no pre-recorded music.

Sixx stated that the band uses studio elements such as orchestral and saxophone tracks to enhance live performances, but all musical performance is executed on stage.

Guitarist John 5 affirmed that every member — including Nikki, drummer Tommy Lee, and himself — performs all parts live, with only background vocals and sound effects layered in the mix.

These background elements are recorded in the studio and used to enrich the live experience, not to replace on-stage performance.

Sixx dismissed claims that he or other members do not play live, calling them 'silliest' and attributing the misinformation to media outlets that do not verify facts.

Former frontman John Corabi acknowledged that the band used backing vocals and a 53-piece orchestra during the song 'Misunderstood' in the past, but noted he has not seen MÖTLEY CRÜE perform live since 2003.

The band’s manager, Allen Kovac, confirmed that during the 2022 U.S.

tour, Nikki played bass and Tommy played drums entirely live, with only studio-recorded background vocals augmenting the performance.

The band has maintained that all live performances are authentic and fully performed by members on stage.
