NIGHTWISH keyboardist and main songwriter Tuomas Holopainen has confirmed that six new tracks have been written for the band's upcoming eleventh studio album. The songs were composed during a period of heightened inspiration, with Holopainen stating that he has already completed the material and feels more creatively driven than ever. The album is expected to follow the release of 'Yesterwynde' in September 2024, with studio time reportedly reserved for 2027.

The band has confirmed a temporary hiatus from live performances, with no official timeline for a return to touring. According to multi-instrumentalist Troy Donockley, the decision to pause live activity was made collectively to prevent burnout, especially given the long tour cycles and personal family responsibilities of the members. Donockley noted that while the break is not terminal, live shows could resume in 2027 to mark the band's 30th anniversary.

Although no tour dates have been announced, Holopainen emphasized that a new album will be released before any live performances resume. This aligns with earlier reports that the band had been working on multiple projects, though only the new NIGHTWISH material has been officially confirmed. The upcoming album will be the follow-up to 'Human. :II: Nature.', released in 2020.

In related news, Floor Jansen will release her solo album 'Hytress' on January 15, 2027, via REVAMP Music/Warner Music, and will launch a comprehensive tour across Europe and South America in 2027. Jansen joined NIGHTWISH in 2013 following the departure of Anette Olzon and has since toured extensively with the band on multiple live albums.
