Finnish melodic death/black metallers NORTHER have officially reunited and will perform at the 2027 edition of the Wacken Open Air festival, set to take place from July 28 to August 31, 2027, in Wacken, Germany.

The band's lineup for the festival concert will consist of Petri Lindroos on vocals and guitar, Kristian Ranta on guitar and clean vocals, Tuomas Planman on keyboards, synthesizers, and electronics, Jukka Koskinen on bass, and Heikki Saari on drums.

NORTHER was founded in 2000 under the moniker REQUIEM, with Petri Lindroos and friends initially playing together.

Kristian Ranta joined in 2000, leading to the band’s first demo and a subsequent deal with Spinefarm Records.

The group eventually added Jukka Koskinen and Tuomas Planman, forming a stable lineup that helped establish NORTHER as one of Finland’s most prominent metal acts, blending death, black, and thrash metal with haunting melodies.

Key releases include 'Dreams of Endless War' (2002), 'Mirror of Madness' (2003, licensed by Century Media Records for U.S.

release), 'Death Unlimited' (2004), and 'Till Death Unites Us' (2006), which helped build a global fanbase.

In 2007, the band released the 'No Way Back' EP, which reached No.

1 on the Finnish charts and marked the debut of drummer Heikki Saari.

Their 2008 album 'N' was the band’s Century Media debut and included two bonus tracks from the 'No Way Back' EP.

In early 2009, NORTHER parted ways with Lindroos and replaced him with Aleksi Sihvonen (MEDICATED) on vocals and Daniel Freyberg on guitar.

Sihvonen made his recording debut with the band on the 2011 album 'Circle Regenerated,' which charted at No.

22 in Finland.

The band announced its split in July 2012, citing 'complicated and time-consuming life situations' as the reason they could no longer function as an active group.

Their final performance was at the 2012 Brutal Assault festival in the Czech Republic.

The 2027 Wacken appearance marks the band’s first official concert since the 2012 breakup."
