Pete Sandoval Leaves I Am Morbid After Four Years
Former MORBID ANGEL drummer Pedro "Pete" Sandoval has exited I AM MORBID following a four-year tenure with the band. Sandoval confirmed his departure in a social media post, stating he will not participate in the fall 2026 'Morbidfest' European tour with ATHEIST and CANCER. He cited a growing disconnect from the band's musical legacy as the reason for his exit, emphasizing that his history with MORBID ANGEL extends beyond the 'Domination' era.
Sandoval expressed gratitude to the band and fans, noting that his last tour with I AM MORBID was physically taxing and that he had initially considered returning to perform after recovery. However, he was informed that another drummer had already been hired for the European tour, making a return impossible. The current I AM MORBID lineup includes bassist/vocalist David Vincent, guitarists Richie Brown and Bill Hudson.
Sandoval, who left MORBID ANGEL in 2010 after surgery for a prolapsed disc, has since embraced a born-again Christian lifestyle. He now performs with TERRORIZER, whose current lineup includes Sandoval on drums, Vincent on bass, Brian Werner on vocals, and Richie Brown on guitar. The reactivated TERRORIZER played its first comeback show on April 25, 2024, at the SWR Barroselas Metalfest in Portugal.
I AM MORBID continues to perform material from MORBID ANGEL's 'Altars Of Madness', 'Blessed Are The Sick', 'Covenant', and 'Domination' albums. The band's spring 2022 European tour marked the first time Sandoval and Vincent played together in 12 years.
