In a new interview with The Five Count radio show in Mankato, Minnesota, bassist/vocalist John Gallagher of the British/American metal trio RAVEN spoke about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band's next album.
After releasing their latest EP "Can't Take Away The Fire" via Silver Lining Music in February 2025, Gallagher stated that they have all but completed writing songs for the new album.
According to Gallagher, the band has a lot of material ready to go and will likely record the album this summer.
He expressed excitement about the band's continued progression with their sound being "yet another step ahead — more intense, more melodic, more heavy, more crazy." Gallagher also confirmed that there will be an extensive tour to follow the release of the new album.
The tour is set to kick off nationwide in spring 2026 and is expected to take place throughout North America.
RAVEN's latest EP marked their return after postponing their previously announced summer/fall European tour so that Gallagher could undergo emergency brain surgery last year.
Gallagher reflected on his recovery, stating that he was "currently still on anti-seizure medication" but expected to fully recover later this week.
He expressed gratitude for the support of his family and friends during his health issues.
The band's classic albums such as "Rock Until You Drop", "Wiped Out", and "All For One" helped establish RAVEN as pioneers in the speed metal and power metal genres, consistently pushing the envelope while retaining their unique sound.
With an extensive tour planned for next year, fans are eagerly anticipating what's to come from this highly influential band.
This comes after a tumultuous period for the band, including the untimely passing of KISS guitarist Ace Frehley last October.
Gallagher reflected on his own near-death experience and expressed gratitude for being alive to see it.
RAVEN is considered part of the legendary 'New Wave Of British Heavy Metal' movement alongside fellow metal pioneers like Iron Maiden and Saxon.
With a legacy spanning decades, RAVEN continues to forge ahead with their unique sound and unrelenting energy.
