SEPULTURA has officially announced its global farewell tour, marking the band's final run of shows before retirement.
The tour kicked off on March 1, 2024, at Arena Hall in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and will conclude on November 7, 2026, at Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu in SĂŁo Paulo, Brazil.
The tour spans multiple continents and will feature a diverse lineup of metal acts, including METAL ALLEGIANCE, which features Mike Portnoy of DREAM THEATER, Alex Skolnick and Chuck Billy of TESTAMENT, Phil Demmel of MACHINE HEAD, Troy Sanders of MASTODON, and bassist/founder Mark Menghi.
KRISIUN and SACRED REICH are also confirmed to appear, with former members Jean Dolabella and Jairo Guedz expected to join the celebration.
The band announced the departure of longtime drummer Eloy Casagrande on February 27, 2024, stating he was leaving to join 'another project,' a move confirmed by Casagrande as his new role with SLIPKNOT.
The news came just two months after SEPULTURA announced its 40th-anniversary celebration with a global farewell tour, prompting the remaining band members to express shock, stating they were 'taken by surprise' that Casagrande would 'abandon everything related to SEPULTURA' so close to the tour's start.
In a new development, SEPULTURA has released a new EP titled 'The Cloud Of Unknowing' via Nuclear Blast Records.
The band is also recording a live album to commemorate the farewell tour, compiling 40 songs performed in 40 different cities to create a 'massive compilation of our best, most energetic moments on stage.' In an interview with Oran O'Beirne of Overdrive.ie, frontman Derrick Green confirmed his intentions to form a new band post-SEPULTURA, describing the vision as 'heavy, but at the same time a lot more melodical,' with a strong emphasis on groove and a blend of singing and screaming.
He emphasized that he is actively 'putting people together' to build the project, drawing inspiration from the vibrant hardcore and metal scenes he has observed in Los Angeles.
Green also revealed his commitment to voiceover work, plant-based initiatives, and the continuation of photography, with hopes of expanding the existing web/TV series 'Highway To Health' with former WHITESNAKE bassist Tanya O'Callaghan.
Meanwhile, guitarist Andreas Kisser expressed interest in exploring new artistic territories, including painting and blending music with visual art, stating he does not wish to recreate SEPULTURA’s past but instead to 'absorb more ideas and see what happens.'"
