In a new interview with The Razor's Edge, SEPULTURA vocalist Derrick Green discussed the band's recent lineup change.

With the departure of drummer Eloy Casagrande in February 2024, less than a month prior to the start of their farewell tour, Green reflected on the shock and uncertainty that followed.

According to Green, Casagrande had previously told the band about his decision to leave SEPULTURA and join SLIPKNOT, citing it as an opportunity he had always wanted.

However, the sudden departure caught everyone off guard.

Green remembered waking up and getting a text from Casagrande saying he was out.

Andreas Kisser, the guitarist, called Green to explain the situation, revealing that Casagrande had indeed joined SLIPKNOT.

Green stated that it was surreal and like falling into a black hole at first.

He acknowledged that Casagrande's decision came as a shock, but ultimately everything worked out.

The band swiftly found and recruited new drummer Greyson Nekrutman, who had been playing with SUICIDAL TENDENCIES.

Green recalled the process of finding a new drummer, with Andreas calling him to discuss the possibility of Nekrutman joining SEPULTURA.

According to Green, they discussed the opportunity over WhatsApp before meeting in person.

Nekrutman reflected on his experience joining SEPULTURA and learning the band's songs within a short period.

In an interview for Modern Drummer magazine, Casagrande expressed admiration for Nekrutman's skills, stating that he was a brilliant player and wishing him well with the rest of the band.

The conversation highlights the complex emotions and uncertainty surrounding the lineup change in SEPULTURA.

Green and other band members navigated this transition while maintaining their musical identity.
