Simpson had planned to release the demos as an album called "Earth: The Legendary Lost Tapes", but Sharon threatened legal action if he moved forward without the band's approval.

After settling the dispute, Sharon revealed that the members of BLACK SABBATH now own their pre-SABBATH demos.

She described the recordings as "very different" from what BLACK SABBATH eventually became, with a more blues-driven direction.

The material features three blues covers and two versions of a track called "Song For Jim", which refers directly to Simpson.
