SLIPKNOT has officially announced the permanent departure of longtime member Sid Wilson, ending his 28-year tenure with the band. The decision follows reports from TMZ on August 3, which stated that Wilson was removed due to "behavior" that the group described as detrimental to its dynamics. The band confirmed the change via a social media statement released on August 14, stating that "Effective immediately, SLIPKNOT will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson. We wish him the best in his future endeavors."

Wilson, who joined SLIPKNOT in 1998 as #0, contributed sound effects and background noise to the band's music. Since the 2000s, he has also performed under the name DJ Starscream. His exit marks the end of a long-standing chapter for the Iowa-based metallers, whose most recent live performance took place at Inkcarceration in Ohio in July 2025.

The announcement came after a planned reveal in early August was disrupted when TMZ first reported Wilson's departure on July 31. Guitarist Jim Root shared a cryptic Instagram post on that day, referencing SLIPKNOT's 2008 song "'Til We Die", urging fans to "Stop. Think. Take a breath."

Wilson had been in a relationship with Kelly Osbourne, daughter of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, since 2022. The couple announced their engagement at BLACK SABBATH's farewell show in July 2025, just weeks before Ozzy Osbourne's death. They reportedly split in March 2025, with the engagement ending quietly weeks earlier.
