Finland’s Soulgrind has returned with their long-awaited album Ad Pulchram Mortem, released today via Inverse Records. The record marks the band’s first release since a fifteen-year hiatus and is a direct continuation of their artistic journey rooted in Finnish folklore and the mythology of Tuonela, the realm of the dead.

Ad Pulchram Mortem, meaning "toward beautiful death," blends crushing doom riffs, raw black metal elements, and haunting melodic passages into a unified, immersive sound. The album features vocals from Tanja Lilith, with Azhemin providing keyboards and vocals, while Lord Heikkinen handles guitars and programming. New members Suntio and Micko Hell contribute to the band’s evolving sonic direction.

The album was mixed by longtime collaborator Jarno Hänninen at D-Studio, a partnership dating back to 2003, ensuring a heavy, immersive sound that remains true to Soulgrind’s signature dark and melodic aesthetic. The release is available on streaming platforms including Push.fm.

Soulgrind has confirmed new material is in development and live performances are being planned. The band has stated this album represents both a tribute to their roots and a promise of future releases, signaling the beginning of a new era for the group.
