Kim Thayil, co-founding member and lead guitarist of SOUNDGARDEN, has launched his new memoir, "A Screaming Life: Into The Superunknown With Soundgarden And Beyond", on June 9, 2026, through HarperCollins imprint William Morrow. The book was introduced with a conversation at Elliott Bay Book Company in Seattle, Washington, featuring Krist Novoselic, co-founding member and bassist of NIRVANA.

SOUNDGARDEN is also preparing a new album of previously unreleased recordings made with frontman Chris Cornell prior to his death in May 2017. The project involves Thayil, drummer Matt Cameron, bassist Ben Shepherd, and producer Terry Date, who previously produced SOUNDGARDEN's "Louder Than Love" and "Badmotorfinger" albums.

In November 2025, SOUNDGARDEN was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in the Performer category, following nominations in 2020 and 2023. The induction ceremony included Thayil, Cameron, Cornell, Shepherd, and original bassist Hiro Yamamoto, who played on the band's first two EPs and first two albums. The event featured performances by SOUNDGARDEN's three surviving members, with guest vocalists Taylor Momsen and Brandi Carlile stepping in for Cornell. PEARL JAM's Mike McCready and ALICE IN CHAINS' Jerry Cantrell also appeared as guests.
