STEELHEART vocalist Miljenko Matijevic has announced a new musical project with Swedish guitarist Niclas Engelin, best known for his work with IN FLAMES and THE HALO EFFECT.
The collaboration, titled DEATH TO LOVE, will feature a heavy Gothenburg-inspired sound with Matijevic delivering intense vocal performances spanning screams, yells, and soft tones.
The project's lyrics are described as deeply personal, reflecting Matijevic's life experiences.
The first single from DEATH TO LOVE is set for release in October, following a preparation phase to ensure a proper rollout.
Matijevic confirmed the project is intended for a large-scale tour, emphasizing it is not designed for club settings.
He stated the band would be open to touring, with performance opportunities dependent on the path life takes.
The project marks a departure from Matijevic's long-standing work with STEELHEART, including his role in the film 'Rock Star' and his time with THE DOORS.
Matijevic, born in Zagreb, Croatia, moved to the United States at age six and has maintained a prominent presence in rock music since the 1990s despite surviving a severe stage accident in 1992.
Niclas Engelin, a pioneer of the Gothenburg melodic metal sound, has built a career through influential work with IN FLAMES and ENGEL.
The DEATH TO LOVE project represents a new creative direction, combining Matijevic's vocal intensity with Engelin's guitar-driven compositions."
