Two titans of progressive music, Steve Hackett (former GENESIS guitarist) and Steve Rothery (MARILLION's longest-serving guitarist), have come together to create the instrumental album "The Roaring Waves".
Featuring seven tracks that showcase their unique blend of dexterous guitar work and poetic soundscapes, the album explores a common theme: the profound power of the sea.
The record has been in the making for over eight years, with Rothery explaining that he found inspiration in the stormy weather and poetic atmosphere of Whitby.
Hackett shares his perspective on their collaborative approach: "It was a bit old school, our approach, like the idea of mates getting together in the garage and playing and hanging out." "The Roaring Waves" will be released via InsideOut Music on August 28, 2026.
Fans can pre-order the album starting June 26, when they'll also get to hear a first single from the release.
A renowned guitarist and songwriter, Hackett rose to international fame as GENESIS's lead guitarist between 1971's "Nursery Cryme" and 1977's "Wind And Wuthering." His latest tours have celebrated his time with GENESIS, featuring both classic tracks and solo material.
This summer, he revisits the works of GENESIS live with his band and orchestra.
Rothery, meanwhile, has been a cornerstone of MARILLION's sound since their early days.
The band signed to EMI in 1982 and has since sold over ten million records worldwide.
His innovative playing style continues to evolve through MARILLION's extensive touring schedule.
