STONE TEMPLE PILOTS has officially confirmed Jeff Gutt as its new frontman, following a nine-year search that began over a year ago. Gutt, a 50-year-old Michigan native formerly of DRY CELL and a former "The X Factor" contestant, joined the band after outperforming roughly 15,000 hopefuls. The decision to move forward with a new singer came after nearly three decades of frontman changes, with original member Scott Weiland departing in 2013 and Chester Bennington leaving in 2016. Weiland died in December 2015 from a drug overdose, and Bennington committed suicide in July 2017.

Dean DeLeo, guitarist and co-founder of STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, confirmed that Gutt has been the most consistent and ready member to carry forward the band's sound. Gutt made his recording debut with STONE TEMPLE PILOTS on the band's self-titled seventh album, released in March 2018. His second album with the group, PERDIDA, was released in February 2020.

In addition to STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, Dean DeLeo has collaborated with vocalist Pete Shoulder on the project ONE MORE SATELLITE. The duo released its self-titled debut album digitally on July 18, 2025, via Symphonic, with a worldwide vinyl and CD release in September 2025 through Deko Entertainment (ADA/Warner Music Group). The project's first shows occurred in November 2025 in California, featuring Julia Lage on bass and Brian Tichy on drums.

ONE MORE SATELLITE's second album is set for release in January 2026, with a single to debut in November or December 2025. A third album has already been recorded, according to DeLeo. The band's original members remain Robert DeLeo, Dean DeLeo, and drummer Eric Kretz.
