Former NIGHTWISH singer Tarja Turunen is set to release her new album, "Frisson Noir", on June 12 via earMUSIC.

The LP marks a return to the heavier sound that has become synonymous with Turunen's solo work and a departure from the more orchestral and symphonic nature of some of her previous efforts.

In a recent interview with Andrew Slaidins of The Rockpit, Turunen discussed the inspiration behind "Frisson Noir".

According to Slaidins' article on BLABBERMOUTH.NET, Turunen revealed that she has been searching for a heavier sound in her music for some time.

Despite having produced many of her own albums with her husband since 2007, including her latest release, "In The Raw", in 2019, Turunen explained that classical music remains her first love and biggest knowledge area.

She achieved the desired heavy sound for "Frisson Noir" through collaboration with Grammy-winning producer Neal Avron (LINKIN PARK, SKILLET, DISTURBED).

Turunen's album will be accompanied by a live tour commencing on September 30 in Berlin as part of her international "Frisson" live tour 2026.

The tour will feature special guests Dani Filth (CRADLE OF FILTH), APOCALYPTICA, Marko Hietala (ex-NIGHTWISH) and Chad Smith (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS).

"Frisson Noir" is available in various formats including CD digipak, black 2LP gatefold, and limited purple 2LP gatefold.

Exclusive special editions will be released through the official album store.",
