Tarja Turunen has released her latest metal album, 'Frisson Noir', on June 12 via earMUSIC.

The record is described in a press release as 'the heaviest record of her career and a powerful statement of identity, strength and belonging'.

The album marks a significant evolution in Turunen's musical output, emphasizing raw energy and personal resilience.

It follows a period of personal and professional upheaval, including her 2005 departure from NIGHTWISH, which she described as 'nasty' and emotionally devastating.

In a 2026 interview with Metal Hammer, Turunen reflected on the split, stating: "What followed was their really great planning, how they wanted to destroy me publicly.

That was something I never expected.

It was nasty." Despite ongoing fan speculation about a potential reunion with NIGHTWISH, Turunen has reiterated that such a scenario remains 'very hypothetical' and 'unlikely to happen'.

She told Kerrang! magazine: "Personally, I don't see anything happening with me and them, to be perfectly honest." The release of 'Frisson Noir' underscores Turunen's continued presence in the metal scene, offering a bold new direction in her artistic journey."
