The Smashing Pumpkins will headline Lollapalooza in Chicago on July 31, marking their first return to the festival since 1994.

The announcement comes as part of a broader celebration dubbed 'Pumpkinpalooza,' which includes a sold-out performance at the Riviera Theatre on July 29, an exclusive merchandise pop-up at 900 S.

Wabash Ave.

from 10 a.m.

to 6 p.m., and special features at Madame Zuzu's Celestial Lounge and The Aviary.

The Riviera Theatre performance, held in the 2,500-capacity venue in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood, will offer fans an intimate experience of the band's expansive catalog.

The merchandise pop-up, just blocks from Lollapalooza’s Grant Park location, will feature exclusive items.

Meanwhile, Madame Zuzu's Celestial Lounge, a teahouse run by Billy Corgan and Chloé Mendel Corgan, will expand with matcha, vinyl, and limited-edition merchandise.

The Aviary will debut a limited-edition cocktail, Infinite Mellons, in honor of the band’s homecoming.

"As a Chicagoan, born and raised, I take great pride in contributing to our city's immense and colorful cultural fabric," Billy Corgan says.

"And so this year's already historic Lollapalooza is that chance to make new memories, new friends, and have a bit of Midwest fun, too as only we might." The festivities precede the band’s 'The Rats In A Cage' tour, which kicks off in September and runs through November.

The tour will feature two sets: one celebrating the diamond-certified 'Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness' and one spanning nearly four decades of hits, deep cuts, and fan favorites.

The band's 2024 album, 'Aghori Mhori Mei,' released in the aftermath of 'Atum,' returns to the early '90s sound with original members Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, and James Iha.

The Smashing Pumpkins, formed in Chicago in 1988, have sold over 30 million albums worldwide and earned two Grammy Awards, seven MTV VMAs, and an American Music Award.

Their discography includes platinum 'Gish' (1991), quadruple-platinum 'Siamese Dream' (1993), diamond-certified 'Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness' (1995), platinum 'Adore' (1998), and gold 'Machina/The Machines Of God' (2000).

Rolling Stone included both 'Siamese Dream' and 'Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness' in its '500 Greatest Albums Of All Time.'"
