Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has announced his upcoming solo album, 'From The Dark,' set for release on October 23 via BMG.

The album marks Iommi's third solo release, following 2000's 'Iommi' and 2005's 'Fused.' 'From The Dark' features Norwegian vocalist Jorn Lande, who shares writing credits on all tracks, alongside bassist Becky Baldwin and drummer Karl Brazil.

The record was co-produced by Iommi and Mike Exeter, his longtime creative partner and audio engineer.

Iommi revealed in a new Rolling Stone interview that he first connected with Lande during a Ronnie James Dio tribute at the 2010 High Voltage festival in London, where Lande sang with the band and impressed Iommi with his vocal performance.

Iommi emphasized that he provided no lyrical ideas to Lande, stating: 'With a singer, it's good if they can do their own stuff because when they've got to sing it, they can put it over better.' He also confirmed that all riffs on the album are new, despite having hundreds of unused riffs stored on his phone and CDs.

'By the time I've gone back to try and find something on them, I've come up with something new,' Iommi said.

Becky Baldwin and Karl Brazil were selected for their local connection to Birmingham, where Iommi resides.

Baldwin, a fan of original Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler, plays in his style, while Brazil was introduced through a mutual friend—Mike Exeter—who recommended him after Iommi heard him play on an instrumental track Iommi recorded with the perfume brand Xerjoff.

Iommi also noted that he originally intended to have Geezer Butler play on the album, but was unable to due to scheduling conflicts with his own project.

The album follows Iommi's 2024 instrumental track 'Deified,' released to accompany a new fragrance, and his 2023 debut solo release 'Scent Of Dark,' which was launched in collaboration with perfumer Sergio Momo.

Both tracks feature collaborations with key figures including Laurence Cottle, Ben Andrews, and Sergio Momo, who is also an accomplished guitarist.

'From The Dark' also features guest appearances from Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins, Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters, Philip Anselmo of Pantera, Henry Rollins, Serj Tankian of System of a Down, Skin of Skunk Anansie, Peter Steele of Type O Negative, and Ian Astbury of The Cult.

This marks a continuation of Iommi's long-standing collaborations across genres and disciplines."
