Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has confirmed that his lymphoma is still in remission, nearly 15 years after diagnosis. The 78-year-old musician revealed the update during a September 2 appearance on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk," stating he continues regular blood tests and scans to monitor his health. Iommi first disclosed his cancer diagnosis in 2011, following a lump in his groin that later tested positive for lymphoma.

He underwent treatment during the recording of Black Sabbath's 2013 album "13," which marked the first studio release in 35 years to feature all three original members: Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne, and Geezer Butler. Iommi's new solo album, "From The Dark," is set for release on October 23 via BMG. The record features singer Jorn Lande, bassist Becky Baldwin, and drummer Karl Brazil, with co-production by Iommi and longtime collaborator Mike Exeter.

Lande previously performed with Iommi and other surviving Heaven & Hell members at a 2010 tribute to Ronnie James Dio. " Iommi, widely regarded as one of heavy metal's most influential guitarists, has received multiple Grammy Awards, induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and honorary academic distinctions including a doctorate from Coventry University and an MBE awarded in June 2026.
