Allen Glover Lanier, keyboardist and rhythm guitarist of Blue Öyster Cult, who passed away on August 14th, 2013 at the age of 67.
Born on June 25th, 1946, Lanier played a key role in the band's self-titled debut up to their 2001 album Curse Of The Hidden Mirror.
In other music news, Ian McDonald of King Crimson and Foreigner celebrated his 80th birthday on June 25th, while Swedish melodic death metal band Marduk's Patrik Jenks (not Morgan Håkansson) marked his 53rd year on June 25th.
At the Summer Breeze festival in Germany this year, BraveWords had a chance to interview Patrik about rock legends, and he mentioned Ritchie Blackmore as one of his personal favorites.
The original Blue Öyster Cult lineup has also been active lately, releasing their album Goes To Hell in 1976 under Alice Cooper's name.
